Uttarakhand to raise female literacy rate to 80 %

Dehra Dun, Oct 24 (PTI) Expressing concern over the low literacy rate among women, the Uttarakhand government today said it has launched efforts to increase the female literacy rate in the hill state to 80 per cent. Chairing a meeting of the literacy mission, Chief Secretary Subhash Kumar expressed concern over the big gender gap in the literacy rate in the state. He fixed the target of increasing the literacy rate among women to 80 per cent from the current 70.70 per cent, an official release said.
