Dehra Dun, Nov 30 (PTI) Three engineers of Uttarakhand irrigation department have been suspended for allegedly making a payment of Rs 32 lakh to a contractor without taking any services from him, officials said today. Executive engineer Brijendra Kumar, the then assistant engineer M P Khare and junior engineer M C Gupta were suspended last night, they said. The engineers were suspended after a preliminary inquiry revealed that a payment of Rs 32 lakh was made to the contractor in April against the repair of a storage house of irrigation department at Harrawala area near here, despite the fact that no such work was actually done. The alleged irregularity was unearthed 10 days back during a routine checking, following which state Irrigation Minister Matbar Singh Kandari ordered a departmental inquiry.
