THDC gives Rs 100 cr for rehab of Tehri dam affected people

Dehra Dun, Nov 29 (PTI) State-run Tehri Hydro Development Corporation has handed over Rs 100 crore to the Uttarakhand government for carrying out works related to rehabilitation and infrastructure development of areas affected by the Tehri dam. A cheque of Rs 100 crore was handed over to Uttarakhand Chief Secretary Subhash Kumar by CMD of THDC India R S T Sai during a meeting here last evening, said an official release here today. "The amount will be spent for rehabilitation of villages affected by the 2400 MW Tehri Dam project and development of infrastructure facilities," Kumar said. An amount of Rs 41.44 crore would be spent to repair damaged bridges of Chinyalisaur, Ghunti-Ghansali and Dobrachanti. Besides, Rs 41 crore would be spent on rehabilitation of Rolakote village which is being affected by the rising water level of Tehri dam reservoir and providing basic amenities to people like electricity, drinking water and roads.
