Murder case
: Attack on witnesses: A family that was coming from Ghaziabad to give witness in a murder case was allegedly attacked by seven persons near the Lachiwala bridge. According to the police, Mulayam Singh, along with his family, was coming to Dehradun to give witness in the alleged murder of his younger brother. On the way, they were allegedly attacked by seven persons. A case has been registered.

Cricket tournament: Little Master Cricket Club’s Sneha Rana has been selected to be part of the north zone team in the All-India Cricket Tournament to begin in Chennai from December 1. She has expressed gratitude to her coach, Narendra Shah, for her success.

Probe into woman’s death begins: A probe into the death of a woman in labour on account of a traffic jam near Chitai in Almora has started. The witnesses have been asked to depose at the court of the SDM within the next fortnight. The woman, identified as Deepa Devi of Chaun Dungri village, had died while in labour after she was unable to reach the district hospital on account of traffic jam in the Chitai Market. The ambulance carrying her had been stuck for two hours in the jam caused due to a large number of marriages being held at the Golu Devta temple premises in Chitai. A probe into her death had been ordered by District Magistrate DS Garbyal.

Nodal officer appointed: The Udham Singh Nagar administration has appointed a nodal officer and his subordinate for monitoring the implementation of the model code of conduct prior to the coming Assembly polls as and when it comes into effect. District Election Officer PS Jangpangi has appointed Additional District Magistrate (Nazul) Anand Srivastava as the nodal officer while Chief Agriculture Officer PA Singh has been appointed as the officer in charge of implementation of the model code of conduct. They have been asked to ensure that the Code is implemented in letter and spirit across the district once it comes into effect. He has made it clear that any laxity on the implementation of the Code would draw strict action against the guilty officials.

2 motorcyclists killed: Two more youngsters lost their lives in accidents involving motorcycles in the region. Two motorcyclists lost their lives in two different instances. Kuldip Singh (20) of Bhawanipur Khulbe in the Peerumdara area was killed when his motorcycle collided with a bus near Shivlalpur village. He was talking on phone while driving which prevented him from seeing the bus coming from the opposite direction. In the second instance, Rakesh Verma (20) of Eradi Rajwan village of Almora was killed when his motorcycle was hit from behind by a truck. The incident took place near Kusumkheda Chauraha in Haldwani.

Tiff over trivial matter claims life: An altercation over a trivial matter led to the death of one person in the Garampani area of Nainital. Gopi (40) and Lalit Pathak (21) had a tiff over some matter. The heated exchange of words was followed by pushing and shoving, which led Gopi fall down. He was rushed to the Primary Health Centre (PHC) by locals who intervened only to be pronounced dead on arrival. Lalit is a local unemployed youth while Gopi was working in an eating joint in the area.

Body of youth found: The dead body of a youth was found from the canal flowing in the Sheesh Mahal area of Haldwani. The deceased is yet to be identified. He is said to be 25 years of age. Efforts are on for his identification. His body was found near the Fire Station premises.
