Uttarakhand Govt presents revenue-surplus budget

The Uttarakhand Government presented a Rs441 crore revenue-surplus budget for the year 2012-13 on Thursday. 

In this budget, the State Government claims that the State’s total expenditure would be Rs21,931.77 crore against the total receipt of Rs21,043 crore for the year 2012-13. In plan expenditure, the State Government has allocated mere Rs7,048 crore for the year 2012-13. This budget was presented by State Finance Minister Indira Hridayesh on Thursday amidst opposition shouting slogans against the government while standing in the well of the house and tossing papers at the Speaker’s chair.

The Revenue receipts have been estimated by the State at Rs16158.95 crore, which is 10.41 percent higher than the last financial year. The revenue through tax is estimated to be Rs9368.71 crore against the last year’s budget estimate Rs7715.05 crore. Although the State has not introduced any new tax and VAT exemption of Rs1.87 given against the recent price hike of petrol, the State Government is expecting a revenue-surplus budget.

Capital receipts are estimated to be Rs4884.10 crore while it was mere Rs3705.96 crore in the year 2011-12. Loan receipts under capital receipts are estimated to be Rs4,766 crore while it was mere Rs3,231 crore last year.
