Organic zones to be developed in U'khand

Dehra Dun, Jun 21 (PTI) Uttarakhand Chief Minister Vijay Bahuguna today said organic zones would be established in the state with an aim to tap the vast potential in the field of agriculture and horticulture. In a meeting with representatives of National Institute of Agriculture Management (NIAM) here, Bahuguna directed Principal Secretary Agriculture to prepare an action plan for setting up organic zones in the state, said an official release. Referring to the plans of the centre to introduce a Food Security Bill in Parliament, Bahuguna said the state government would also set up food testing laboratories in the state. Bahuguna also asked the officials to draft a plan to establish food grains godowns at nyaya panchayat level to meet their shortage and said financial assistance for the purpose could be obtained from NABARD.
