Sena Medal winner honorary Captain Jeet Singh Jagwan expired at
his residence in Deepnagar, Dehradun on Thursday. He was 65 years old.
Late Jagwan joined Garhwal Rifles in 1963 and was posted in 7th Garhwal
Rifles.
He took part in Indo-China war in 1965 and Indo-Pak war in 1971. He has
the credit of gunning down 4 extremists and recovering large arsenal
during his posting at Nagaland and Mizoram from 1978 to 1982.
For his
bravery and courage, he was awarded Sena Medal by the Government. He
also participated in operation Blue Star in 1984 and peace mission in
Sri Lanka in 1986. After rendering his service at Ranikhet, Pithoragarh
and Rajasthan from 1988 to 1991 he retired from the Army and settled in
Dehradun. He also actively participated in statehood movement from 1994
to 2000 and was involved in social works. His last rites will be
conducted at Haridwar on Friday.
