Dehradun : Uttar Pradesh and Haryana have retained the top two positions in the number of cadets that will pass out from the Indian Military Academy here from different states. Incidentally, the two states have been at the number one and number two position respectively for a decade now.
The Passing-out-Parade of the 131st regular course will take place on tomorrow (8th December, 2012). Chief of the Army Staff Gen Bikram Singh will be the chief guest and take the salute on the occasion. Besides the gentlemen cadets of the regular course members of the technical graduates and special entry, besides 71 from foreign countries will also be passing out.
Incidentally, Uttar Pradesh, which is the largest state of the country, will have 76 gentlemen cadets belonging to it passing out. This is followed by Harayna with 50 gentleman cadets, and the small mountain state, Uttarakhand, comes third with 46 gentlemen cadets. They are followed by Maharshtra (30), rajasthan (25), Himachal Pradesh (22), Punjab (20), Delhi (20) and J & K (14).
Both Uttarakhand and Haryana have been at the top two positions for almost over a decade now. Uttarakhand, which was normally in the third position had slipped to the fourth place in the June 2012 Passing-out-Parade, has come back to its third spot.
As many as 687 cadets will be passing out at the 131st course, of which 422 are from the regular course, 105 technical graduates, 89 under the technical entry scheme and 71 gentlemen cadets from friendly foreign countries.
Entry into the armed forces at the officer level is also getting popular in the eastern states as this time 14 gentlemen cadets from the seven north-eastern states will be passing out. Of these eight are from Assam and Manipur.
