Dehradun, Jun 17 (PTI) Opposition BJP in Uttarakhand today accused the state government of "secretly" amending rules to increase the stipulated height of buildings at the behest of land mafias.
"Our allegations against the state government are coming true one after another. We said there was a scam in distribution of disaster relief funds and were proved right. We also said the state government was playing into the hands of land mafia and we were proved right again with the state government secretly revising building bylaws and raising stipulated height of buildings from 21 metres to 30 metres," Leader of Opposition in the Assembly Ajay Bhatt said.
Alleging that the step was taken in a "hush-hush" manner with a government order already issued in this regard without being displayed on the state government's official website, Bhatt said it was a move aimed at suiting the interest of the land and building mafias.
"This shows that the state government is working like an agent of the mafias and has no care for the people of the state," Bhatt said.
