Uttarakhand government on August 20, 2015 sanctioned Rs 114 crore for completion of works related to the proposed Doon Medical College. Heading a meeting for this, the Medical Education Minister Harak Singh Rawat said all works related to the college would be completed by November this year as per the norms of the Medical Council of India. He also sanctioned Rs 114 crore for works related to the college at the meeting held in the presence of Chief Secretary Rakesh Sharma.
Sharma issued strict orders to officials present at the meeting for construction of 10 dormitories at the college within a month saying as per MCI norms there should at least be 300 beds at a medical college.
He also asked them to ensure completion of all construction related work at the college by September 30, including completion of the under-construction college building, hostels and residential buildings, laying of power lines and water pipelines.
As per MCI norms deployments should also be made on 65 faculty posts, 46 posts of resident doctors, 100 posts of paramedics and 175 posts of nurses, he said.
