Dehradun, Aug 11 (PTI) Getting into election mode in Uttarakhand, Congress today inaugurated a new media centre, launched a website and set the ball rolling for framing its manifesto for the assembly polls. Incharge of party affairs in Uttarakhand Chaudhary Birendra Singh inaugurated the media centre aimed at strengthening the information network among party units at block and district level ahead of the assembly elections due early next year. During the function, which was attended by co-incharge of state party affairs Anees Ahmed, Uttarakhand PCC chief Yashpal Arya and leader of the opposition in state assembly Harak Singh Rawat among others, Singh also launched a website of the state congress. He said the website would prove helpful in spreading party's ideas and messages to the people in the run up to elections as the number of internet users is growing rapidly. Singh, who also chaired a meeting of party election manifesto committee, said the tickets would be goven to workers who not only fulfil the criteria of winnability but also have a clean image in their constituencies.Regarding the announcement of state PCC members, Singh told reporters that it would be done shortly. However, he refused to give any time-frame.To a question, Singh said feedback has already been taken from party units at lower level regarding the potential candidates to be fielded in assembly elections.
