U''khand govt effects reshuffle in IAS officials'' departments

Dehra Dun, Aug 7 (PTI) Acting under Election Commission orders, Uttarakhand government has reshuffled the departments of six senior IAS officers.Manisha Panwar, who was in charge of Higher and School Education Department, has now been shifted to Medical, Health and Family Welfare and Ayush Department, an official release said here.Additional Secretary to Chief Minister and Director of Uttarakhand Renewable Energy Development Agency (UREDA) Nitesh Jha has been shifted to Pauri as District Magistrate. Jha would replace Dilip Jawalkar who will take charge as the Additional Secretary to Chief Minister.Additional Secretary Subardhan has been given the responsibility of School Education Department while the Higher Education Department has been given to Additional Secretary R K Sudhanshu.Secretary to Chief Minister Umakant Panwar has been relieved from the responsibilities of the Health and Family Welfare Department, the release said.The reshuffle comes close on the heels of a directive from Chief Election Commissioner Y S Qureshi, who, during his visit here this week had asked the state government to complete the transfer process by the end of this week in view of the upcoming Assembly polls early next year.Qureshi said as per the policy of the Commission, no official could work in his or her home district during the polls. Similarly, he said the officials posted at one place for three years, must also be shifted elsewhere.
