Uttarakhand Cabinet gives approval to host of proposals

Dehra Dun, Nov 22 (PTI) The Uttarakhand Cabinet has cleared a host of proposals including setting up a Madrasa board and signing an integrity agreement with contractors for keeping at bay possibility of corruption in the government. In a meeting chaired by Chief Minister B C Khanduri last night, the Cabinet has approved most of the announcements made on the occasion of State Foundation Day on November 9, official sources said. It will now be mandatory for all government departments to sign an integrity contract with the contractors, which clearly states that receiving or giving bribe is prohibited, they said. A monitoring system would also be developed for keeping watch on contracts awarded by the government departments. The Cabinet also cleared proposals to upgrade Purola and Gairsain as Nagar Panchayats and provide free bus service for girl students, the sources said. The tehsils of Purola in Uttarkashi district and Gairsain in Chamoli district would be upgraded as Nagar Panchayats. It also gave its approval for extending the deadline of applying for regularisation of illegal habitations till March 31 next year, they said. Apart from this, the government would also provide Rs 50,000 as one-time incentive to students selected for IIT, IIM, IMA and other national-level institutes. Besides, the Nazool land could be made freehold on the circle rates prevailing at the time of creation of Uttarakhand in 2000, the sources added.
