Uttarakhand minister resigns

Uttarakhand Minister for Panchayati Raj and Public Security Rajendra Bhandari has resigned citing personal reasons.

Bhandari, who also holds the portfolios of Jail and Homeguards today said he has sent his resignation to Chief Minister B C Khanduri yesterday and a copy has also been forwarded to the Governor.

Meanwhile, the state secretariat has said CM will take a final call in this regard and no decision has been taken so far. Confirming receipt of the resignation, Rajbhavan sources said they have not received any official communication from Khanduri's office in this regard.

Bhandari's resignation comes as a blow for the ruling BJP in the state which goes to polls on January 30. Bhandari, who was inducted into the cabinet was said to be seeking party ticket from the Badrinath constituency in the upcoming elections.
