Chief Secretary Alok Kumar Jain has directed the officers concerned to expedite the proposed works while chairing the 29th Board Meeting of Uttarakhand Infrastructure Project Company (UIPC) at Secretariat on Thursday.
He asked them to resolve issue of proposed five-star hotel project at Garhi Cantt and to invite the tenders afresh. Observing that State could be made self-sufficient in power sector through small hydro-power projects, Jain directed the officers to complete the projects on priority basis after assessment of the effect on environment. He also laid emphasis on developing basic infrastructures for promotion of potential tourism in the State.
It was apprised in the meeting that tenders had been invited by Uttarakhand Jal Vidyut Nigam Limited for 11 small scale hydro-power projects. Tenders for five of them had been received. Tenders were ready for 4 MW Kho-II project and 3.7 MW Kho- III project at Pauri, 1 MW project on river Tons in Dehradun, 19 MW project on Nyar River at Pauri, 1 MW project on Balchhina Nala at Bageshwar, 2 MW project on Western Nyar at Pauri and 2.25 MW project on Eastern Nyar River. Tenders for 23.20 MW projects would also be invited. Uttarakhand Infrastructure Project Company (UIPC) is constructing several projects including Bijapur & Purkul, survey of Yamuna river, Beerathi fall, Ballgard, DHauliganga valley, Mandakini valley, Pinder valley, Utyasu (Alaknanda), Khoh valley, Nayar bridge, Fatani, Seraghat and hydro power projects over the tributaries of Alaknanda.
In tourism sector Dayara Bugyal ski resort, Dehradun Mussoorie rope way, Hemkund Sahib, Janki Chatti project, Kempty Mussoorie rope way, Munsyari Kholia top ropeway, Uttaranchal Air connectivity Pauri Srinagar rope way, Ranikhet Chaubatia, Surkunda Devi rope way, Khuli gaad purnagiri rope way are being constructed. The meeting was attended by Secretary Energy SS Sandhu, Staff Officer to Chief Secretary MC Joshi and officers of UIPC.
