 DEHRADUN: Uttarakhand government's decision for reforms like reduction in the number of excise check posts at different points on state highways and creating a online system to realize tax during the year has helped increase its revenue generation and Plan and Non-Plan expenditure for the year 2012-13.

Chief secretary Alok Kumar Jain said the government earned Rs 4261 crore from Value-Added Tax (VAT) during the Financial Year 2012-13 compared to Rs 3643.51 crores in 2011-12, a rise by 17%. The revenue generation during the year 2010-11 was Rs.755.92 crore.

 Giving details of overall revenue generated and expenditure for the year 2012-13, Jain said total earnings from excise shot up by 29% during the year 2012-13 with a collection of Rs 1092 crore as compared to Rs 843.65 crore in 2011-12.

According to Jain, total plan expenditure during the year 2012-13 was Rs 5525 crore against Rs.4625 crore in 2011-12, an increase of over 19%. The total plan expenditure during 2010-11 was Rs.4367 crore.

Jain said it is the highest planned expenditure in the state since it was created in November 9, 2000.

Jain said expenditure under centrally-sponsored schemes like Pradhan Mantri Rural Sadak Yojna has also shown a considerable increase. The expenditure during 2012-13 was Rs 2016 crore compared to Rs1494 and during leading an increase by Rs 521.38 crores.

Jain said Vijay Bahuguna is committed to introduce more reforms and transparency in the governance to generate more revenues in the months to come.
