Petrol to cost Rs 5.10 a litre higher in Uttarakhand

DEHRADUN: Petrol price in Uttarakhand were today hiked by Rs 5.10 per litre after the state government revised local levy on the fuel.

Uttarakhand Chief Secretary Rakesh Sharma said a base tax of Rs 17 per litre has been fixed for petrol under the new mechanism.

The fixed VAT replaces ad-valoren rate of 25 per cent. The state government got Rs 12.50 per litre from the ad-valoren levy.

A litre of petrol will cost Rs 67.30 in the state from tomorrow.
