Uttarakhand CM asks minister to get out of his car

More Uttarakhand News, about Uttarakahnd and more http://uttarakhandnews2k.blogspot.com/

Uttarakhand Chief Minister B C Khanduri today asked the state's Urban Development minister Madan Kaushik to get out of his car, after the latter was accused of land grabbing at a press conference attended by the both.

Addressing a press conference here, the Chief Minister was interrupted by a man who accused Kaushik of indulging in land grabbing at Haridwar.

A visibly embarrassed Chief Minister, who was sitting along with Kaushik, cut short his press conference and left quickly.

As soon as Khanduri sat in his car, Kaushik, a local MLA from Haridwar, also joined him from the other side.

Within minutes, Khanduri asked Kaushik to get out of the car and invited BJP state President Bishan Singh Chufal to join him instead.

Later, Kaushik refuted the allegations and claimed that he was not involved in any land grabbing.

Development work will not be stopped: Khanduri

More Uttarakhand News, about Uttarakahnd and more http://uttarakhandnews2k.blogspot.com/

A day after he was sworn in, Uttarakhand Chief Minister B C Khanduri today said the period of 'shradh', considered inauspicious by Hindus for starting new ventures, would not be allowed to affect development works in the state.

"Whatever is appropriate, we will take decisions accordingly," Khanduri said when asked whether the shradh period would stop him from taking important decisions.

Khanduri is virtually facing an uphill task as far as development works are concerned since the Assembly elections are just five months away.

Khanduri also said he has a plethora of works to be completed which include some unfinished tasks handed over to his government from the previous Nishank government.

Thanking people of the state for their overwhelming support, Khanduri said he wanted to make Uttarakhand a model state.

"Such a small geographical area possesses wonderful natural resources like forests, water, herbs, scenic beauty.I believe Uttarakhand has all the potential to become a model state," he said.

He said his government would work as per the spirit of the sacrifices made for the formation of the new state of Uttarakhand.

"If we want to pay true tributes to our statehood activist, then we have to develop Uttarakhand as per their aspirations," he said, adding good governance would be the main poll plank of his government.

Nishank to arrive today

More Uttarakhand News, about Uttarakahnd and more http://uttarakhandnews2k.blogspot.com/

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Ramesh Pokriyal Nishank is set to arrive here on Saturday and sources said the BJP top brass would discuss with him the blueprint for leadership change in the state bound for polls.

Veteran leader B C Khanduri is emerging as the strongest possible replacement after a party meeting here Friday. While those close to Nishank said the topic of leadership change had not been broached with him yet, the Khanduri camp said change was imminent.

An overwhelming majority is said to be in favour of change, although Sushma Swaraj and Tawarchand Gehlot did have some reservations. The BJP does not expect much resistance from Nishank as he doesn’t have much support among MLAs.
