Gopeshwar (Uttarakhand) Sep 28 (PTI) The portals of Badrinath Temple, one of the important Hindu shrines, will be closed for winter from November 17.
The temple, located in the Garhwal Himalayas, would remain closed for six-months during the winter as a part of its tradition, temple sources said.
The decision on the closure of the temple was taken today in the presence of head priest Rawal Keshav Namboodiri on the occasion of Vijaydashmi, they said.
According to the traditions, the auspicious date and time for the closure of the temple is decided on Dussehra day.
The portals of the centuries-old shrine, located on the banks of the Alaknanda River and is dedicated to Lord Vishnu, will be closed at 3:40 PM on November 17 amid religious rituals
