Dehra Dun, Mar 28 (PTI) The Opposition members walked out of the Uttarakhand Assembly over the issue of burning of a leopardess to death in a village and also accused the government of harassing the villagers. Raising the issue during the Zero Hour, Leader of the opposition Harak Singh Rawat (Congress) said the government has deployed PAC in the village and is harassing innocent villagers by registering cases against them. He said the government should instead take action against the forest officials who failed to save the leopardess. Parliamentary Affairs Minister Prakash Pant, however, said the leopard comes under schedule one under Wildlife Protection Act and its killing is a serious offence. And so action against the villagers is justified, he added. Pant, however, said government is planning to make a working plan so that the conflict between the humans and wild animals can be minimised. The Congress members, however, expressed dissatisfaction with the government's reply and staged a walk-out shouting slogans against it. The two-and-a-half-year-old leopardess was burnt to death by villagers of Dhamadhar village of Pauri district on March 23 after it attacked and injured three persons before hiding in a cow-shed. Following this two persons were arrested.
