Dehradun, March 8 -- Uttarakhand Jal Vidyut Nigam Limited (UJVNL) has set a new record in power generation in February. Officials claimed that the department has generated 283.47 Million Units (MU) electricity against target 256.750 MU in February since its inception. It is noteworthy that 247.791MU electricity was generated in February, last year. Officials claimed that the power generation has improved with the increase in water level in most of the rivers and their tributaries.
The current financial year has been proving extremely beneficial in terms of power generation in the State. Using all the hydro power projects, the unit has generated 4519.097 MU electricity against the target of 4415.750 MU electricity in last month. Among all the dozen hydro power projects being undertaken by UJVNL, Chibbro hydro power plant generated 756.162 MU electricity as against the target of 756.000 MU electricity on February 03, this year.
As per the latest data compiled by the department, Dhalipur and Kulhal power plants have generated 9.987 MU and 7.939 MU electricity respectively in the last month since its commissioning. Among all power plant project, Maneri Bhalli-II generated 42.580 MU electricity in the last month by breaking last record as the project had generated 39.720 MU electricity in the last year. Officials said that every power plant have been generating electricity at their optimum level as the water levels in the rivers like Ganga, Bhagirathi, Tons, Yamuna, Mandakini, Nandakini have proved extremely favourable for those companies engaged in power generation. While informing about the latest power scenario in the State, GP Patel, MD, UJVNL said that frozen rivers had hampered department's efforts to achieve the target but now the flow of water has been proving extremely beneficial for the power generation. "Stern instructions have been released regularly to officials to remove technical snags at hydro power plants and to upgrade plants for the optimum generation," he said that the previous month has proved extremely beneficial since every hydro power plants generated electricity at its optimum level.
