Dehradun, Aug 24 (PTI) The Uttarakhand Police has decided to reopen the case of an Australian youth, who mysteriously went missing on this day six years ago from an ashram in Luxmanjhoola area of the district.The decision to re-investigate the case was taken by DGP J S Pande after the parents of 21-year-old Ryan Chambers met him today and made a request in this regard."I have assured his parents Jock and Dianne Chambers that we would again investigate the matter and try to trace him though our earlier efforts have failed," Pande said.Pauri SP Arun Mohan Joshi said photographs of Ryan has been circulated in all the police stations and Luxmanjhoola police station house officer has been appointed as the investigation officer of the case.Ryan had come to India in 2005 along his friend John Booker and was staying in the ashram when he suddenly went missing on August 24, leaving behind all his belongings, including his passport, purse and a diary.Joshi said police would re-investigate the matter keeping in view all possible angles.Ryan's parents are visiting India for the fourth time in the past six years. "Today is the sixth anniversary of Ryan's missing. We miss him badly. We request the police to help us in finding him," an emotional Jock Chambers said."The lines mentioned in Ryan's diary is keeping my hopes alive as it is mentioned-- 'If I am gone, I am not dead, I have gone to free my mind'," Dianne said.Jock said they would also try to meet Governor Margaret Alva during their stay here.
