Dehradun, Sep 1 (PTI) Union Minister Harish Rawat today criticised Uttarakhand Chief Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank for including his name in the list of separate statehood agitators and demanded an apology from him."By getting his name included in the list of statehood agitators, the Chief Minister has not only hurt the sentiments of the people, but also violated the propriety of the office. He must apologise to the people, especially the agitators for his act," Rawat, MoS for Parliamentary Affairs, told reporters here.He said participation in the statehood movement might be a necessity or compulsion for the political leaders and that is way they should refrain from taking benefits from this."Only such people should find place in the list who participated in the movement selflessly without any political motive." Rawat said it is "very sad" that Chief Minister Nishank himself applied for getting his name included in the list."How a district magistrate can reject the application of a Chief Minister?" he asked. The MoS also asked senior BJP leader Rajnath Singh, who was recently nominated as the party election in-charge in Uttarkahand, to apologise to people for allegedly backing IAS officer Anant Kumar Singh, who was DM of Muzaffarnagar in 1994 when police fired on Uttarakhand agitators."This is an open fact that Anant Kumar has always been given prominence when Rajnath Singh was Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh or when he was holding the post of union minister at the centre," he alleged.
