2 children united with family
: A five-year-old girl, Parvati, and her three-year-old brother, Sooraj, have been united with their family. Both children were found crying in Dehradun. After talking to them, the Dehradun Police traced their family to Kotdwar.

Two arrested: Two persons, Mehtab and Shawer, have been arrested for allegedly duping several people. Birpal, a victim, alleged that the duo recently approached him on the pretext of taking financial help. Later, they asked him to show his cellphone. However, later he was surprised to know that it was a piece of a Rin cake packed in the shape of a cellphone. Before he could react, they had fled the spot. However, he had noted the registration number of their motorcycle. He approached the police that arrested the duo on the basis of their motorcycle’s registration number.

Bronze medal: Constable Neeraj Semwal of the Uttarakhand Police has won a bronze medal in shooting scoring 588 points out of 600 in the ongoing All-India Police Shooting (Sports) being conducted by the BSF at Madhya Pradesh. The shooting team of the Uttarakhand Police has won the fourth place in the overall competition.

Restricted holiday: The state government has announced there will be restricted holiday for government employees on Maharaja Agarsen Jayanti on September 28.

Assembly session: Officials in Udham Singh Nagar have been asked to remain present in their office headquarters till the state Assembly session is on. An order to this effect has been given by District Magistrate BVRC Purshottam. He said during House proceedings, there were certain questions for which instant information was required. The officials have been particularly asked to keep their phones, both landlines and mobile, in working order. He said anyone wanting to leave his office in case of an emergency must intimate his superiors and take prior permission before he moves out.

‘Swachta Utsav’ : Champawat district will be observing “Swachta Utsav” from October 2 to November 4, which will be marked by a total sanitation drive being carried out at the gram panchayat, block and district levels. During the utsav, the administration will organise cleanliness drives, awareness campaigns and screen films promoting sanitation all around. Besides, processions promoting sanitation will also be organised in which people from all walks of life will participat. According to Chief Development Officer TS Brijwal, a drive for the construction of toilets in every house and promoting environment cleanliness would be carried out in every village chosen as Nirmal Gram in the district.

Dasehra celebrations: Almora District Magistrate DS Garbyal has ordered that all arrangements be put in place for the Ramlila and Dasehra celebrations in the town. Almora has a unique tradition of celebrating Dasehra wherein the effigies of Ravana are built in almost every locality and then brought to a central place. Garbyal has ordered officials to ensure that all effigies reached the stadium on time. At the same time, he has asked the officials to make arrangements for the immersion of Durga idols marking the end of the Durga Puja celebrations on the same day.
