Separate cells comprising consultants and economists will be set up
in Uttarakhand to speed up externally aided projects (EAP) in the state.
Announcing the decision at a meeting with government officials here,
chief secretary Alok Kumar Jain said experts on the EAP cell will
expedite implementation of externally aided projects in consultation
with officials of different government departments.
Jain also directed the officials to prepare proposals for new
projects on a priority basis keeping in view the 2017 deadline for the
completion of ongoing projects in the tourism sector so that they could
be forwarded to the Centre for clearance.
He also said funds will be made available for Lakhwar and Byasi hydel projects from the amount sanctioned for EAPs.
PWD projects like widening of roads and building approach roads
connecting tourist spots will also be brought under the ambit of the
EAPs, he said.
