Dr Pankaj Trimbak Chande has been appointed as Vice Chancellor
of Uttarakhand Sanskrit University and Prof Rakesh Bhatnagar has been
appointed as VC of Kumaon University by the Uttarakhand Governor Aziz
Qureshi on Saturday.
Qureshi appointed them by using his powers under the Universities Act
1973, Prof Bhatnagar of JNU as the Vice Chancellor of Kumaon University
and Dr Chande of Kavikulkguru Kalidas Sanskrit University (Maharashtra)
as the VC of USU, Haridwar. As the tenure of Vinay Kumar Pathak as VC
of Uttarakhand Open University ended on Saturday, the Governor has, till
the appointment of a new VC or till further orders (Whichever happens
first) authorised Prof HP Shukla (English department of UOU), Haldwani,
to carry out the duties of the VC.
Prof Bhatnagar has done PhD in Department of Biochemistry from National
Sugar Institute, Kanpur in 1978 and worked as Professor in between
1989-1997 in JNU. In 2010 he associated as Faculty in US-India Joint
Research Training Programme, Seattle, Biomedical Research Institute
Seattle WA, USA. He worked as scientist (wiessenchaftliecher
angeschtelter) Institute of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Freiburg
University, Freiburg, Germany in between 1979-82; Pool Officer,
Department of Biotechnology, VP Chesh Institute of Delhi University in
between 1982-83; Associate professor of Biochemistry, PG Institute of
Medical, Education and Research, Chandigarh in between 1983-85; visiting
assistant Prog, Lab Connective Tissue, Biochemistry, CHU, Caen, France
in between 1985-86; Visiting associate NHLBI, NIH, Bethesda, MD, USA in
between 1986-87 and Senior NRC Associate USAMRID, Fredrick MD, USA in
between 1987-89.
Dr Chande has completed three term of five years each as senior most
Vice Chancellor in India and former president of Association of Indian
Universities, New Delhi and currently working in Kavikulaguru Kalidas
Sanskrit University, Maharashtra.
