Terming the eight-month rule of Congress in Uttarakhand as a complete failure, the Leader of Opposition in Vidhan Sabha, Ajay Bhatt said that development activities have completely stalled in the Garhwal and Kumaon divisions of the State due to lack of proper vision by the ruling party in the State.
While addressing the mediapersons in a Press conference held at Vidhan Sabha, Dehradun on Tuesday, Bhatt said that Congress-led State Government is yet to take effective steps for the development of the State. “The remote areas of Uttarakhand lack roads, potable water, health facilities, school etc.,” he said, adding that party members will corner the State Government over development issues during Vidhan Sabha session slated to begin from Wednesday onwards.
According to him, emergency power cut has become a regular feature in Uttarakhand with remote areas witness power cut ranging from three to four hours per day.
Bhatt also demanded from the State Government to take stand over Ponty Chadha’s murder case and further said that Government should clarify whether any of the bureaucrats or ministers was presence at deceased’s residence at the time of incident. Expressing concern over the Sidcul phase-II project, Bhatt said that the State Government is yet to disclose the name of the industrialists who are coming to state and also failed to clarify that how the state government will meet with the demand of electricity for industries when entire state is reeling under the acute shortage of power.
According to him, it is a matter of concern that ruling party’s MLA ha been staging protest across the state against the government. He also alleged that State Government has assured that residents that three additional LPG cylinders would be allotted to the residents after crossing the limit of cylinders imposed by the union Government, but State Government is yet to take steps to fulfill the announcements made by the government during Tehri bypolls. BS Bhagat was also present.
