USMF threatens to intensify protest if demands not met

Irked over Government inaction on their pending demands, members of Uttarakhand Shiksha Mitra Federation (USMF) marched to the Vidhan Sabha on Monday. They warned that the association will intensify its protest if demands are not met soon.

According to protesters, they have been demanding their allowance be increased to `22, 000 per month from July, 2012.  The Government should organise training on DLEd in the next year for those Shiksha Mitra who have not been attended the training so far. Shiksha Mitra should be given 14 leaves, one month medical leave and  maternity leave.

Shiksha Mitras employed in schools which are being closed down due to shortage of students should be attached to neighborhood school immediately. In another development, the members of Shiksha Acharya Union who have been protesting for the last 184 days outside Vidhan Sabha blocked the road at Rispana Bridge for half an hour in support of their pending demands.  According to union president Puran Singh, government should appoint Shiksha Acharya as teachers in government schools without delay.
