Dehra Dun: The Uttarakhand government has decided to
widely publicise the 'Nanda Devi Rajjat' Yatra in order to attract
tourists to the hill state.
The yatra, held once in 12 years, is scheduled to take place next in the middle of 2013.
The
government would publicise it on national and international levels so
that more tourists could participate in it, Chief Minister Vijay
Bahuguna said inaugurating a web-portal last evening.
In this regard, a cell has been set up at his office to monitor the preparations of yatra, the CM said according to a release.
Besides, a Sri Nanda Rajjat yatra development committee has also been constituted to make the event a grand success, he added.
The three-week long yatra begins from Chamoli district and one has to undertake an arduous hilly trek to complete it.
Bahuguna
said prior to the Yatra, a trial would be conducted to review the
arrangements on the route. He said the success of Rajjat yatra would
help Uttarakhand carve its niche in international map of tourism.
