The ministerial employees of different departments resumed their duties on Thursday. Despite cold conditions, large number of Doon residents visited the government offices for redressal of their grievances.
One of the employees at Collectorate said that he was surprised to see large number of inter-departmental posts piled up in the department. To avoid inconvenience, he will have to go through all the posts so as to ensure the same are dispatched to the departments concerned without further delay. “I will have to work extra hours for another 10 days to complete pending work in the department,” he added.
RTO officials said that a large number of forms related to driving licences, vehicle registration number plates and others were received on the first day of reopening of the office. Sohan Rawat, one of the visitors at Regional Transport Office said that he felt relaxed to see the officials at the office. He had made several rounds of the office in the last 15 days to procure two-wheeler vehicle registration number plate but had been retuning home empty handed.
In Education department, an official said that large number of teachers’ letters seeking transfer to place of their choice has been received. According to him, around 400 such applications were received in the last 20 days.
According to departments’ officer, work in the department will soon speed up as ministerial employees have resumed their duties. However, it will take about 10 days for the work in the department to return to normalcy.
Meanwhile, a large number of ministerial employees assembled at Parade Ground in Dehradun to officially announce the end of their work boycott and to celebrate the State government’s assent to their demands. One of the members read the GO issued by the State government to meet the demands of the ministerial employees. Elated members of the Uttaranchal Federation of Ministerial Services Association congratulated each other and expressed gratitude to the government for addressing their demands on the occasion. According to the UFMSA general secretary, members have been requested to complete pending works by working extra two works daily.
