Dehradun, Sep 16 (PTI) Giving some relief to common man, the Uttarakhand government today removed VAT on Rs 3.14 a litre hike announced yesterday by oil companies.As a result the hike in petrol price has been minimised by Rs 0.78 a litre.An official statement this evening said Uttarakhand Chief Minister B C Khanduri has decided to give full waiver in VAT on the increased price of petrol.The measure would cost the exchequer by Rs 21.78 crore per annum, the statement added. In June also, the state government had announced a similar relief in VAT on the prices of petroleum products. PTI
